About us

The Forty-Seventh General Conference of The African Methodist Episcopal Church held in Indianapolis, Indiana, June 30 - July 7, 2004 created the San Antonio District because of the redistricting of the Tenth Episcopal District (State of Texas).  The State of Texas was redistricted by counties into four annual conferences:  The Texas Conference, The Southwest Texas Conference, The North Texas Conference, and The Northwest Texas Conference.  (Please see The Doctrine and Discipline of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, 2004 Edition for a list of counties within each conference.)   After the redistricting by the General Conference, the new Southwest Texas Conference was redistricted to form two presiding elder districts, The Austin Capital District and The San Antonio District.
